One Hundred groundbreaking latest sign of downtown Kitchener’s boom

Ground broke Monday on what will soon become the newest set of condo towers looming over the downtown Kitchener skyline.

One Hundred – the name for the 19-storey and 15-storey buildings going up at 100 Victoria Street South, just south of Joseph Street – is the work of Momentum Developments, which also built the 1 Victoria tower at Victoria and King streets.

Works starts on big One Hundred condo project in downtown Kitchener

A pair of local developers announced a strategic partnership Monday at the sod-turning for a condominium project on Victoria Street that is worth more than $100 million.

Momentum Developments and Zehr Group will jointly develop the 348-unit project at 100 Victoria St. S. The development, called One Hundred, will include a podium building with three floors capped with a rooftop terrace, and two towers rising above it.

Unwrapping a Victorian ‘jewel’

From the second-floor office in his mansion, industrialist Jacob Kaufman could look up from his desk, glance out the window and see the thriving rubber factory he had built, down the hill from his home.

Today, a redevelopment of the land around that once-gracious home hopes to bring it back to its former glory, and preserve the view that tells so much about Kaufman’s pride in what he’d accomplished.

Massive mixed-use development slated for Kitchener

Zehr Group is looking to break ground in early 2018 on a massive mixed-use development in downtown Kitchener, Ont. after acquiring the historic two-acre Ratz-Bechtel property.

“We’re very excited about the potential for this entire site,” says Zehr Group CEO Don Zehr. “It will play a key role in the ongoing transformation of Kitchener’s downtown core.”

The Walter in Kitchener breaks ground

The McGillivray Group, in partnership with Zehr Group and Vanguard Developments, announced the ground breaking of “The Walter,” a new residential development in mid-town Kitchener, Ontario. Located at 100 Walter Street, the 4-storey, 38-unit rental building is slated for occupancy in the spring of 2017.

Light rail sparking redevelopment of King Street site

Don Zehr looks out the second floor window of his company’s boardroom in Kitchener and sees a future with thousands of people on the sidewalks around a central transit station, a growing health-sciences campus and condominiums rising above parking lots.

The offices for his company, Zehr Group, are located at 607 King St. W. That’s where the veteran developer is usually busy overseeing the design, construction, management and sale of real estate for a long list of clients.

Next stop: Northfield Station

The first two tenants of a major new development in the city’s north end have been revealed. Cineplex Digital Solutions and MNP LLP will occupy nearly half of the space available at the new Northfield Station development located at 137 and 139 Northfield Dr. W.

The project is located next to a proposed light rail transit station and just minutes from the expressway.
